DLL stands for “Dynamic Link Library”. The name is catchy and sophisticated enough to let you know the files are important for your Windows! There are lots of DLL files on a typical Windows Installation. Although you don’t directly deal with them, these files are important for all the other applications that you run on your system.

 

So what exactly does a DLL file do? Well DLL files provide certain basic underlying functionality that is needed by other software. Diving a bit deeper, you would unravel that they provide certain functions which can be called upon by other executable files. Ironically, although the whole idea of DLL files was to simplify application creation and development, they can cause some nasty errors if things go bad.

 

Most common types of errors you encounter with DLL files is that they mysteriously go missing, and you get a ‘so and so’ dll file not found error. There is however, no real mystery in this, the causes can range from removing an installed software to a bad sectors or corrupt disk to installation of a new software, so on and so forth.

 

In this article however, we are going to look at how to fix missing DLL files. So let’s chalk out a strategy to achieve this: 

 

 

Get Some Information About the Missing DLL File 

 

First off, get some information about the DLL files you are missing. Here are a few resources that can help you out:

 

Check the Microsoft DLL help database (update: the site no longer online). It lists all the DLL files used by common Microsoft products. You can search by name or product to determine which files are required by a specific product or which file was installed by a particular product. This is great information for solving version conflicts in DLL files.

 

If you cannot find the file in question in the database mentioned above, try Process Library. You can search for Process names (from Windows Task Manager) or DLL file names and get more information about the offending file. I use it all the time to look up a running process that I find suspicious. More often then not you will get some kind of helpful information to aid you along.

 

If none of the above helps, then just try and Google the name of the file and see if you can find some information on the DLL.

There is a good reason why you would want to do get all the information first. If you are able to extract some information from any of the above sources, you would know the offending software and confirm whether the file you are looking for is really required, or some malicious piece of code is the real cause of concern.


With that risk out of the way, your best bet is to re-install the software that the DLL pertains to (or restore back if you recently installed or uninstalled a software). We could get the DLL file and replace (or place) it at the appropriate location, but trust me these files have more to them than you can discern. There are all kinds of versioning issues, multiple files having the same name and what not. Most likely this will fix the issue. In the event that this doesn’t help we would have to get our hands dirty.

 

Find, Get and Register Missing DLL files

If you search for the offending file on Google you will most likely get a number of results offering downloads of the file. You can check them out and get the file in question. One excellent source for finding such files is dll-files (MakeUseOf review).

Search, download and extract the file you want. Now we would have to register the DLL with Windows before applications can use the file. Follow these steps to register the DLL file:

• Open up the command prompt (Start > Run > type cmd)
• Type “regsvr32 ”
• Reboot the computer

If you did everything correct, hopefully you will not see the error again. In case of the contrary, you have your work cut out, do some research, ask around, and if nothing seems to help, I am afraid it may be time to get your Windows disc into the drive and attempt a recovery or re-install altogether.

Even if replacing a single DLL file fixes your immediate issue, additional problems tend to show up later, often as error messages notifying you of yet another missing DLL file. Save yourself a lot of time and energy and fix the problem right the first time.

DLLs from DLL Download Sites are Often Outdated

DLL download sites exist solely so you'll find them on a search engine and hopefully click on their advertisements. They are not true software support sites and have little if any incentive to keep their DLL files updated. However, the software company that actually developed the DLL file will always have the most up to date and functional file available.
Software developers rarely have single DLL files available for download, so if a reinstall of their software program doesn't replace or repair the DLL file you're after, I recommend contacting the company and requesting a copy of the file.
Note: Sometimes you may receive a DLL error message when using a particular program but the DLL file may not be supported by the developer of that program. This is actually very common since DLL files are often shared between programs. A great example is the D3dx9_42.dll is Missing error that will sometimes show up before certain video games. The file is actually a DirectX file and is supported and supplied by Microsoft in their DirectX software package.

DLL Files from DLL Download Sites May be Infected with Viruses

Since DLL download sites are not approved sources for DLL files and often have little if any contact information available, there is no guarantee that the DLL file you just downloaded is free from a virus infection. Assuming you have a good antivirus program, an infected DLL file might be quarantined as you download it but there is certainly no guarantee of that. Take the safe route and simply avoid downloading DLL files from these DLL download sites.

DLL Download Sites Could Host DLL Files That Could Compromise Your Computer's Security

DLL files are like small, specialized programs that can be programmed to perform various actions automatically, even actions that open your computer up to hacking and other kinds of intrusions. DLL files like this do exist. While it's unlikely that you will search for one of these particular DLLs files to download and install, it is a risk you take when you install a DLL file in your system from a DLL download site. Saya tidak menyangka bahwa ternyata Fatin benar-benar menangis di panggung X-Factor Indonesia. Sepertinya dia memang lupa lirik lagu yang sedang dibawakannya. Sejauh yang saya tahu dan sepenglihatan saya dari beberapa rekaman Fatin di YT, hanya satu kali saja Fatin pernah lupa lirik. Tapi, kali ini kelihatan cukup fatal. Dia seperti berdehem tidak jelas. Di akhir penampilannya pun akhirnya dia menangis.

Saya akhirnya mencari seperti apakah lirik lagu yang dinyanyikan Fatin. Dengan bantuan simbah google akhirnya saya dapatkan lirik lagu di bawah ini. Ternyata benar apa yang dikatakan oleh Teh Ocha (Rosa) bahwa lagu yang dibawakan Fatin malam itu (Everything at Once) benar-benar seperti judulnya. Kata-katanya tidak ada yang diulang, semua kata dalam lirik hanya diucapkan satu kali saja. Perkecualiannya adalah untuk beberapa kata dalam bagian Reff. seperti "all I wanna be" dan "everything at once". Selebihnya benar-benar hanya diucapkan satu kali.

Pentagon Told CNN to Reduce U.S. Rhetoric about North Korea

Recent announcements of American military deployments in response to belligerent statements by North Korea may have contributed to escalating tensions between the countries, Pentagon officials told CNN on Thursday in explaining an effort to reduce U.S. rhetoric about North Korea.

"We accused the North Koreans of amping things up, now we are worried we did the same thing," one Defense Department official said.

The officials spoke on the same day a U.S. official first told CNN that communications intercepts indicated North Korea may be planning to launch a mobile ballistic missile in coming days or weeks.

South Korean Defense Minister Kim Kwan-jin told a parliamentary committee in Seoul that the North has moved a medium-range missile to its east coast for an imminent test firing or military drill, according to the semi-official South Korean news agency Yonhap.

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea - Korea Utara

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK; Chosŏn'gŭl: 조선민주주의인민공화국; Chosŏn Minjujuŭi Inmin Konghwaguk), commonly called North Korea (About this sound listen), is a country in East Asia, in the northern half of the Korean Peninsula. Its capital is Pyongyang, the country's largest city by both land area and population.


The Amnok River and the Tumen River form the international border between North Korea and the People's Republic of China. A small section of the Tumen River also lies along the border between North Korea and the Russian Federation, technically following the river's thalweg. The Korean Demilitarized Zone forms the boundary between North Korea and South Korea. The legitimacy of this border is not accepted by either side, as both states claim to be the legitimate government of the entire country.


The Korean peninsula was governed by the Korean Empire from the late 19th century to the early 20th century, until it was annexed by the Empire of Japan in 1910. After the surrender of Japan at the end of World War II, Japanese rule ceased. The Korean peninsula was divided into two occupied zones in 1945, with the northern half of the peninsula occupied by the Soviet Union and the southern half by the United States.


A United Nations–supervised election held in 1948 led to the creation of separate Korean governments for the two occupation zones: the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in the north, and the Republic of Korea in the south. The conflicting claims of sovereignty led to the Korean War in 1950. An armistice in 1953 committed both to a cease-fire, but the two countries remain officially at war because a formal peace treaty was never signed. Both states were accepted into the United Nations in 1991.


North Korea political parties includes Workers' Party of Korea, Korean Social Democratic Party and the Chondoist Chongu Party (also there are some independent deputies). The three political parties participates in the Democratic Front for the Reunification of the Fatherland led by the Workers' Party of Korea. The government follows the Juche ideology of self-reliance, initiated by the country's first President, Kim Il-sung. After his death, Kim Il-sung was declared the country's Eternal President. Juche became the official state ideology, replacing Marxism–Leninism, when the country adopted a new constitution in 1972. In 2009, references to Communism (Chosŏn'gŭl: 공산주의) were removed from the country's constitution.


Education in North Korea is universal and free of charge (it is one of the most literate countries in the world, with an average literacy rate of 99%). The country has a national medical service and health insurance system which are offered for free. Housing and food rations traditionally have been heavily subsidized. The means of production are owned by the state through state-run enterprises and collectivized farms.
